Retail Sales
In the retail business, location is everything. And Castle Rock, Colorado has become the location of choice in recent years due to its demographic appeal. Castle Rock is an affluent market and our consumers tend to spend well above the national average on virtually all products and services.
Castle Rock is also a growing market. Retailers that establish themselves now experience a natural growth in sales as the population rises towards its eventual population of over 100,000 people. Total retail sales and population have both increased by roughly 50% during the last five years. The slate of national and local retailers fills in a little more each year, with Lowes and Michaels being recent additions. Many retailers also choose to locate in Castle Rock now in order to assure themselves of a prime, central location in what will eventually become a large full service community.
The Outlets at Castle Rock draw over 4 million shoppers to Castle Rock each year, but that is only part of the picture. The charming shops in historic Downtown also draw shoppers from outside the community and provide an enjoyable, unique shopping experience. In each of the last few years, over 200 new businesses opened in the Castle Rock community ranging from large national retail and restaurant chains to locally owned and operated boutiques and businesses.
An employment base of approximately 13,000 people generates solid daytime demand and augments the strong residential customer base for Castle Rock’s retail and service providers.
