| Douglas County grew 191% between 1990 and 2000 making it the fastest growing county in the U.S. in the decade. It grew another 44% from 2000 to 2005. Much of that growth occurred in the town of Castle Rock. With an expected annual growth rate of about 6% per year over the next few years, it is estimated that the population within a 5 miles radius of Castle Rock town center will reach 50,000 in 2007.
Douglas County is rated as one of the 100 highest-income counties by median household income according to the 2005 U.S. Census Bureau.
