The Castle Rock Fire Department offers a state of the art emergency response system. In addition there are many group medical practices and numerous specialists, orthodontists and dentists. Sky Ridge Hospital is located just minutes north of Castle Rock and operates an imaging center and medical offices in several Castle Rock locations. Centura-Adventist Hospital is expected to begin construction on its 50 acre medical campus in 2009.

Several skilled nursing facilities exist in Castle Rock with a 270 room independent living, assisted living and memory care center due to begin construction in 2009. Douglas County Housing Partnership works to ensure the availability of affordable housing. The Women’s Crisis Center and the Douglas County Task Force help meet other community needs.

The Douglas County Library District operates the Philip S Miller Public Library in Castle Rock. This 48,000 square foot facility is open 7 days a week and offers a comprehensive selection of business publications and online databases. This facility receives over 30,000 visitors per month.

Students in Douglas County School District continue to outpace the state average on the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP). Results show Douglas County continues to exceed state averages in every grade and in every subject tested, topping metro area schools in 20 out of 26 tests. Offering small class sizes and an excellent curriculum, Douglas County Schools also boast one of the lowest drop-out rates in the state. Independent sites like www.greatschools.net or www.schoolview.org can offer insight into the school system’s strength.

Arapahoe Community College also offers classes in Castle Rock at Castleview High School with plans to expand. In addition, several colleges and universities are located within a short commute to Denver or Colorado Springs.
